Indian Cerimonial Wooden Box 1850

Indian hand carved wooden cerimonial Kumkum box. Beautiful paisley shape with intricate carved scale detailing. Brass hinge lid. Originally used to store pigmented powder and spices signifying good fortune and blessings for use in temple and wedding ceremonies. Found in Riegelsville, Pennsylvania.

Appropriate wear and patina for age, slight bow at base.
